There was a noticeable change in the atmosphere over the recent May bank holiday weekend. The sun was shining, for one, and every patch of grass and beach was occupied by locals and visitors alike, enjoying the warm rays and supping fruity ciders without the usual worries of a looming Monday morning. With numerous events such as the Tattoo Convention, Foodies Festival and a local street party, Brighton took on the feel of a city-wide festival. We even spotted one guy wearing shorts.
So, as Brighton Summer season is almost about to explode into life, here is a little run down of May’s essential Brighton activities and events.
Brighton Festival (7th-29th May) & Brighton Fringe (6th May – 5th June)
With far too many events and acts to even begin picking out our recommendations, the festival and fringe festival bring a menagerie of weird and wonderful events and shows to our bustling little city throughout May. Whether music, comedy, drama or just the completely bizarre is your thing, you’ll be certain to find something up your street.
Ladyboys of Bangkok – 6th May-11th June
May also sees the world famous Ladyboys of Bangkok grace Victoria gardens with it’s glitzy cabaret sensation in the Sabai Pavillion running from 6th may- 11th June. Uniquely glamorous and always great fun, May wouldn’t be May in Brighton without them!
Great Escape festival – May 19th-21st
With a dizzying 450 acts in 35 venues across Brighton, Great Escape is the perfect event to catch those acts that might just become massive in months to come. With a wealth of talent spread across Brighton’s finest music spots for a whole 3 days, all you have to do is get yourself a wristband and sort through the massive lineup to start the difficult decision of who you want to see the most!
With reports that the UK is set for a record-breaking hot summer, why not kick things off early and head to Brighton this May! With all of these events and many more, there’s surely no excuse.
Of course, baggies is ideally located for all of the above, and is handily just 2 minutes from the beach for when you need a bit of down time from all the fun!Back to All posts.
